My elephants were slightly neglected last month; I managed to make only one. There are a number of reasons for this, but I won’t bore you with that. I’m putting them at the top of my list this month, and already have one completed. The fourth elephant really tickles me. It looks like he has a wild eye on his shoulder. It also makes me think of the huge storm on Jupiter.
Here is the herd as it stands now with 4 out of 24 blocks complete:
I have the next elephant ready to go with the raw edges glued under. I plan to get started on it this evening.

I am considering these cute little embroidery scissors. They are 25% off.
neat elephants
Thanks!
How cute is that Elephant!! The herd will be so unique.
Thanks so much, Chris!
So colorful! It will be a beautiful quilt.
Thanks so much, Carol!
I like your elephants. Do you actually use glue to turn the edges under? Or are you using starch? I’ve tried both but was curious.
I’ve been using glue – Sewline Water Soluble Fabric Glue Pen. It works well and lasts a long time. I had glued a couple of elephants, then didn’t get around to appliquéing them for a couple of weeks. The glue was still holding just fine.
I love your latest elephant! Sometimes life gets in the way of sewing…but you’ll get back to making many more elephants I’m sure of that!
Thanks so much Jayne! You’re right – I am already well into the next elephant. Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Michelle, I love the variety of your elephants. That’s going to be an awesome quilt!
Thank you Andrée! I am having lists of fun.
Your elephant herd is growing, so nice and colourful!
Thanks so much, Jenny!
Love that elephant. It will be an amazing herd.
Thanks so much KJ!
Such cool elephants.
Thanks so much!
Such beautiful elephants. I really like elephants anyway, but yours are spectacular with great fabric choices.
Thanks so much Shasta! I am very partial to elephants myself. Having lots of fun making them in these bright colors.
These elephants are so pretty. Love every one of them!
And thank you for picking my Kolam post for this week’s feature.
Thanks so much! And thank you for sharing the kolams! I was not at all familiar with them. They are so beautiful!
Your elephants are darling! The one with the ‘storm’ on his side is pretty cool. I had shoulder surgeries (two) over the past year, and the laparoscopic photos from them always look like space shots to me, similar to the Jupiter storm! LOL! Hey, I have those rainbow unicorn scissors! My whole sassy group of stitchers has a pair!! ♥ 🙂
Thank you so much! Your observation about the laparoscopic shoulder surgeries looking like the Jupiter storm made me laugh. So nice to know I’m not the only one whose brain works like that. I hope your shoulders are doing well! Those rainbow scissors are so awesome! I have a pair of rainbow scissors I bought at a quilt show several years, hence my hesitation at going ahead and purchasing these. But mine do not have a unicorn on them….
Look at all those gorgeously coloured elephants. Love your new one!
Thank you so much, Kim!
Love them!!!
Thank you, Alycia!
Cute elephants!
Thanks so much, Frédérique!
Haha, a wild eye indeed. I didn’t notice until you pointed it out. They are coming along great.
Thanks so much, Denise!
These are so pretty. I really love them!

Thanks so much Cie!
Oh dear–I never know if the comments that just disappear go to a moderation queue or if they go to spam. I’m sorry if this is a duplicate comment. I love your elephants, they are wonderful!
Your elephants are wonderful. I hope this isn’t a triplicate comment! When I tried to comment with WordPress and Facebook, the comment just disappeared and I didn’t know if it went to a moderation queue or to Spam.
No worries! I do moderate the comments due to spammers. I’m going to see if I can come up with something to let commenters know. I’ve been puzzled on other blogs just like you were with mine.
Sorry you had to lay the elephant blocks aside for a while, but this new one sure was worth the wait. What a cute personality she has! Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
Thank you so much, Jennifer!
Great fabric placement on this guy!
Thank you, Susan!
Hi Michelle! Your herd is really coming along nicely. I can’t wait to see what colors and pattern you are planning for the next 20. Will they all have a common theme amongst them – we’ll have to wait to see. Thanks for linking up today. ~smile~ Roseanne
Thanks so much, Roseanne! I already cut all of the elephants, but it’s been long enough ago that I am enjoying each fabric all over again.
Your herd is growing! I especially like the connection to Jupiter…before you know it, they’ll all have names, too.
Cool.
😎
Thank you! It would be so easy to go down that elephant naming path. LOL!
Just gorgeous! I love the bright colors!
Thank you for sharing w us at Creative Muster! Many blessings! xoxoxo Sharon

Love this one. That “storm” spot is very cool.

This fabric was perfect for the new addition to the elephants!
Thank you! I’ve now made two more. It’s a fun project!
