I recently found out that the blog, Earrings Everyday, hosts a monthly blog hop on the 3rd Friday of every month. Each month’s blog hop is themed, and this month the theme is “wanderlust.” The theme was well-timed because earlier in the month, our family took a trip to Austin, TX. We were there for the MotoGP races, but managed to take time to visit a bead shop, Bead It.
Bead It is a quirky little shop set up in an old house. Beads adorned all of the walls and in bowls on tables. The shop had some pretty unusual beads. So much fun! I came home with some lovely beads.
When I saw the blue, yellow, and green glass beads that make up the focal point on these earrings, I knew I’d use them for the wanderlust challenge. These earrings are called For the Love of Austin.
The leaves and bead caps are pewter. I’ve become fond of pewter because it’s tarnish resistant. The beads are strung on 26 gauge stainless steel wire. (I’d bought it to use for wire-weaving, but as I feared, it is really too tough to use in that capacity.) The ear wires are sterling. They will be added to my shop soon.
Thanks to the ladies at Earrings Everyday for hosting this fun blog hop.
I will be linking up with these blogs all week.
Austin seems like a really cool place to visit. I always try to find bead stores when I travel as well. It is nice to see beads in person and especially if you can find something that might be native to that area, even better! Thanks for joining me in the We’re All Ears challenge! Enjoy the day! Erin
Thanks Erin! I am really enjoying Earrings Everyday and the monthly challenges.
The Bead It shop looks so good. I hope you had a great time there
It was a lot of fun! Thank you!
Cute earrings! Those focal beads are super fun and a great find. I often drag my husband into bead shops when we travel (ok, he’s actually usually a willing enabler!) as sometimes you can find things you’ve never seen before!
I have an enabling husband too! Isn’t that awesome? Thanks for stopping by!
Everything ties in with your earrings design, inspiration, name, theme linky. I like the leaves charms and the greens in the beads. Nice pics from your Austin trip too! I’ll bet you did not want to leave Bead It!
Thank you! Bead It was a lot of fun! I wish I had taken pictures of the place. (20/20 hindsight) I’m eager to share some of the other beauties I got there. They will be making their way into other pieces soon.
Wonderful earrings. Your trip sounds wonderful.
Thank you!
Thanks for linking up to Keep In Touch. Cute earrings. I love Austin.
Thanks so much!
