Creative Compulsions Link Up Party #21

Creative Compulsions Link Up Party

So many deliciously creative link ups to Creative Compulsions last week!

Blog Makeover

I completed a blog makeover this past week. It was instigated by my changing priorities due to retirement, which I blogged about here. My shop is gone, relieving me from the drudgery of constant selling. (I may still do a vendor show or hit up a boutique now and then.) And the blog has a new pretty theme. It took a little thought and a significant amount of courage to try a WordPress theme change, but it went amazingly well. I had to tweak a few menu settings, and redo my sidebar, but I had mentally prepared myself to lose it all, so these things seemed relatively minor.

And now on to the link up!

Creative Compulsions Party Guidelines

Here is the opportunity to share your creative endeavors – paintings, drawings, afghans, quilts, clothes, jewelry, stained glass, upcycling, etc. The only criteria is that you made it yourself. It doesn’t have to be finished – share during your process and update in the weeks to come. Please share actual projects that you have done or are working on, not just tutorials about what you’d like to do. No recipes please.

You can share anything on the Internet – blogs (mostly what I will be sharing); Instagram, Facebook and Twitter posts; pictures; and YouTube videos. The only requirement is that it be of something you’ve created.

The party opens at 4AM PST on Thursday, and closes at 11:59 PM, Sunday. You may share as many projects as you like during that time. I would appreciate if you would post a link to the blog party when linking in order to spread the love. Please, take a look at what others have shared. We all love receiving comments.

  2. I too am working on a new layout for my blog. It’s not coming along quickly enough because there aren’t enough hours left at the end of the day to work on it. I love the colors you have added. Good luck with the retirement.

    1. Thanks so much, Denise! Tweaking a blog can be a huge endeavor. Hoping you get some extra time to finish it up.

    1. It was actually easier than I anticipated. I went from a paid theme that had both a shop and a blog, to a free theme that was primarily a blog. With my former theme, my main URL took people to the shop. I had to change it so that it pointed to the blog page. I lost my sidebar, but it wasn’t difficult to reproduce. And I had to tweak my menus, because the shop menu was no longer necessary.
