It seems whenever we take a trip, I wind up with these random photos that are not really connected to any specific event. And yet, I took the pictures because I saw something interesting. That’s what this post is about.
This summer, we attended a Mini Cooper meetup event called Minis in the Mountains in Salida, CO. I blogged about it here, here, and here. When the event was over we headed west on Highway 50 in southern Colorado.
The road rose out of Salida’s 7000 foot elevation to 11,230 ft. How did I know that? I discovered that the compass app on my phone tells the elevation as well! I had a lot of fun with this app during this latter part of the trip.
And finally, there is this photo:
I took this picture because I found the craggy mountain face fascinating. The Gunnison River, there in the foreground, has three dams on it creating three lakes: Blue Mesa Reservoir, Morrow Point Reservoir, and Crystal Reservoir. Unless you happen to see the dam, it’s really hard to tell where one lake ends and the next begins. In any case, this body of water was our constant companion for miles and miles.
Whew! I think I’ve finally said all that I want about our Colorado trip!

Very beautiful places you visited in Colorado. I’ve not been for some years, but there is so much to do in Colorado.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
I hope you have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Michelle. ♥

Beautiful scenery!
Beautiful photos. That’s some serious elevation!! I like that craggy mountain face too!
Thank you!
Hello, beautiful views and scenes. Great series. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend!
Thanks so much, Eileen!
Wow what beautiful landscape X #thatfridaylinky
I often end up with random photos after I’ve shared about a trip too. We were just in Colorado and South Dakota and kept asking Siri what elevation we were at!
I never thought about asking Siri!
It certainly looks a beautiful part of the world!

Thank you so much!
I recognized the Dillon Pinnacles near the Blue Mesa reservoir right away! They always make me take their photo. We visited Saida recently–its a beautiful town.
The Dillon Pinnacles are very photo worthy! Thank you for sharing their name.
It’s surprising how the landscape is similar to mine here in New Zealand! I have a photo like the ‘craggy’ mountain but not so much of it. Small world. Beautiful world.
It’s great to see you joining us on ‘My Corner of the World’ this week!

Colorado is filled with so many beautiful views – lakes and mountains for miles.
Agreed. The scenery is spectacular throughout most of the places I’ve ever visited in CO.
