Music is so good for my sense of well-being. My husband and I both love music, and between the two of us enjoy a wide variety of music. So we were thrilled to have the opportunity to see Tony Bennett. He’s 93! (I thought it was amazing when we saw John Mayall during this past year at age 85.) He performed 3 nights at the Venetian.
The show began with the Tony Bennett Quartet. They opened with a wonderful jazz piece.
Then Tony Bennett’s daughter, Antonia Bennett, sang 4 songs. She shared how fortunate she felt to be able to travel and perform with her dad. It was sweet.
Finally, Tony himself took the stage.
He walks carefully as the very elderly often do. And his voice was a bit tentative at first, but it didn’t take him long to warm up. And then he sang for 90 minutes. It was beautiful. Not only was it a privilege to get to hear him sing, my husband observed that of all the people in the venue, Tony looked like he was having the most fun of all. All smiles and twinkling eyes. If I remember correctly he did three encores. It was fabulous!
You know, when we moved to Las Vegas, a number of people said they could never live here, because they would gamble all their money away. But that’s never been an issue for Dan and me. However, we have done our share to support the entertainment industry. The following is a list of shows we have seen from October 2018 to October 2019.
Puddles Pity Party
Book of Mormon
With the exception of one, we saw all of these shows in Vegas. And yes, we saw Postmodern Jukebox twice. We liked it so well, we wanted to take my mom. In fact, she has seen five shows with us. I’ll tell you, it was all money well spent.
