The last weekend in September found Dan & I participating in The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. So what is this ride all about? Its main purpose is to raise awareness and money for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health. It is also a lot of fun! Triumph Motorcycles is a supporter, and the charity partner is Movember. This ride occurs all over the world on the same day. 115,202 riders registered to ride. There were 678 separate rides across world, and $5,733,109 raised. All good news!
As for the ride itself, there are guidelines.
1. Dress dapper – tweed jackets, vests, crisp shirts.
2. Ride classic style.
3. Register and fundraise.
My distinguished gentleman
The riders all met at the Tivoli Parkway Tavern. Living on the opposite side of town, Dan & I got an early start to make certain we arrived on time. Instead, we arrived early. So we had breakfast. I really liked the chandeliers in the tavern.
We had just finished eating when the other riders began to arrive.
It was fun to see all the different motorcycles. Unsurprisingly, Triumphs were well represented – including ours. It was even more fun to see all of these dapper dudes on their motorcycles. There was one couple who arrived in white tails. So awesome! Here is Cheryl in her white tails showing off her birthday tiara.
After everyone had arrived, and all motorcycles had been properly discussed and admired, we headed out west of town. It was a beautiful day! We stopped midway through the ride to admire the scenery.
The ride soon continued, and after seeing more beautiful scenery, we wound our way back into town. The ride ended at an Irish pub. Some people had lunch, but Dan & I were still sated from breakfast. We had Guinness. It was a lovely day!
