I bought this dress to attend a Halloween wedding, but we didn’t get to go. A broken plane one day and a snowstorm in western Kansas (the location of the wedding) the following day made it impossible. But I had chosen this dress, because I knew I would get a lot of use out of it. It skirts the line between casual and dressy. Depending on how I style it could pass for either. I was going for casual on this day.
Strolling in Lake Las Vegas
On this particular occasion, my husband and I were on our way to dinner at our local Mexican food restaurant. Our condo sits in the heart of a faux Italian village at the edge of a man made lake in the community of Lake Las Vegas.
We have 6 restaurants, a small but well-stocked grocery store, and a wine bar within a short walking distance. Given that these days we can get everything delivered, I’d never have to leave the village if I didn’t choose to.
The village even has its own casino, but it’s been closed for years. Lake Las Vegas was a fairly new development when the 2008 recession hit. The village was hit hard, and while it’s making strides still hasn’t fully recovered. For us, the depressed prices were a help; we bought our condo at the third of the price it was at its highest. As for the casino, last we heard, it was purchased by a Chinese company, but the state of Nevada refused to give them a gaming license.
Turquoise & Black Flowered Dress
So this lovely dress is from Rosegal. (It also comes in burgundy & black.) I love the empire waist. When you are a bit fluffy like I am, it draws attention away from your tummy. The fabric is a soft polyester that resists wrinkling and is easy to care for. I styled it with black leggings and black Skechers purchased from Amazon a few years ago. When it gets cold the Skechers will be replaced by boots. (The shoes in my closet are either boots or sandals.)

While this is a good start, to completely style this dress, I need to make some jewelry, and perhaps crochet a shawl.
looking good! I must admit to never dressing up and do not have a dress in the closet at this time – that looks like a nice village and to have many places that deliver – out in the country we have nothing like that of course so I guess it is a good thing I don’t mind running errands
Thanks so much, Karen! I love grocery delivery. I really do not like going grocery shopping. But my husband doesn’t mind, and actually likes going sometimes, so I don’t use grocery delivery much. And then there is Amazon…. I lived in the country for a lot of years, so I understand.
Such a beautiful dress and oh, I just adore that faux Italian village!!!

Thanks so much! The Italian village is a little gem at the edge of the desert. I love it here.
It looks like a comfortable outfit. I like the colors! Have a grand week!
Thank you! It is comfy, which is my number one rule. LOL! I hope you have a grand week too!
Love this cheery dress and of course the palm trees! xo

Thank so much! And yes, my rule is that I have to live where there are palm trees. If it’s too cold for them, then it’s too cold for me.
I really like casual dresses too. I get a lot more wear out of them than more formal styles. It’s a shame you missed the wedding. A Halloween wedding sounds like fun.

Casual dresses are so comfortable! Thank so much for commenting, Julie!
Michelle – so sorry that you didn’t get to go the wedding – but great choice of dress! I am also a big fan of Skechers – the sandals are so comfortable and give great support while still letting my feet breathe in summer heat! Loved seeing more about where you live – what a deal on your condo! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
Thanks so much! Those Skechers are my most comfortable pair of shoes. When I know I’m going to be on my feet a lot, I wear those.
What a pretty location! Love the color in the dress and cardigan.

You created yourself a very pretty outfit. It goes with your faux Italian village in the desert. 🙂
Thank you so much!
It really is adorable and suits your style! I love the sandals and you cute toe nails too! Looks like such a fun area to get out and walk!
Thank you so much for your sweet comment!
Looks nice. I’m on a month long vacation but only packed jeans, T-shirts and sweats. I’m not a very fancy person. – Margy
I used to be a jeans, t-shirt, sweatshirt kind of gal. But I developed fibromyalgia and jeans are just so stiff that they can add to the pain. Dresses and leggings are more comfortable for me.
That little village is so cute and looks like there are so many options to have some fun. I love wearing a dress for a date night!

Michelle, I love this bold floral and the turquoise color is so great on you! I have lots of Rosegal dresses and I really do love the way they cover my fluff, too! You can definitely go all boho with this dress. Great look, my friend. And I love your cute little village, too.

Thanks so much, Shelbee! Rosegal makes so many cute clothes. It is one of my favorite places to shop. I keep studying Boho fashion trying to get a better handle on it. It’s going to take some time. Love our little village. It makes life easier.
